[Review] Derrick Parker – “Returns Pon Top” (Flash Hit Records)

The recent EP from Flash Hit Records brings us talented vocalist Derrick Parker on modern digital riddims. They are made in a modern, bassy flavour – just check excellent, pounding “Gone Pon Top”, massive “Dead Sound” or “Turn It Up”! A deadly combo of steppa, heavy basslines, subtle dubbing, a digital style with classic sounds and crazy synths – the main theme from “Dead Sound”, especially in the version, is absolutely cosmic. Lovers of classic rub-a-dub style will also be satisfied, Derrick easily catches the atmosphere of a riddim and flows easily and naturally.
