Mungo’s Hi Fi new releases with Charlie P, Blackout JA, Mr Williamz

Mungo’s Hi Fi new releases with Charlie P, Blackout JA, Mr Williamz

Mungo’s Hi Fi are very active. Soon after great albums with remixes (http://dubmassive.org/tag/mungos-hi-fi) they present another releases.

SCOBLP005_back_500We will start from a LP, where the crew meets excellent ragamuffin and sound system warrior – Charlie P. After plenty of singles and collaborations the time for a full release has come for this young and talented vocalist, who has started his musical journey when he was a kid.

This showcase presents both Mungo’s and Charlie P from their best side. Classic and modern reggae/dancehall vibes, future bass sounds and dubstep rhythms, all combined with singing, deejaying, fast chatting. Fire on the dancefloors guaranteed.

Next releases are 7” also with very talented vocalists singing over digital riddims: Mr Williamz sings over G20 riddim and Blackout JA  – here we get him over Imitators riddim. We get also clean version on the flip side.

All releases, besides vinyl edition, are available also in digital formats, check Mungo’s Hi Fi shop on their website.

Two new releases from O.B.F Sound System

OBFREC701-AsideTwo new releases from O.B.F Sound System. The first one is dedicated to Nelson Mandela, a classic mashing tune from French crew with Mr. Williamz on the vocal. The tune has been tested on many dances – 7” is available now, so grab your copy!

The second release is 12” available from 23rd of March. This one refers to O.B.F’s album “Wild”, we get two tracks from this LP. The first one is great “Dub Controller” with Charlie P including  an additional, unreleased dub version. The B side are “Poorman Life” with Mr. Williamz and extra versions – a vocal one with Sr Wilson (“Soundman Session”) and a pure riddim.

I-Skankers Records: Charlie P – “Ina The Ghetto” (12”)

I-Skankers Records: Charlie P – “Ina The Ghetto” (12”)

ISR12002_Flyer_I-SkankersGood news from France thanks to International Skankers Sound System, the crew from Rennes, which – besides spreading sound system vibes – runs also I-Skankers label. On their recent, second release we have UK talent Charlie P, who sounds great on tuff, steppers riddim singing touching lyrics. Similar like on the first release the music is made by French producer Dub Foundry, supported by RDH. On the flip side we got 2 dubs called “Dub is harder” and “Dub is raw” – these titles tells everything…

Mungos Hi Fi – “Serious time” (LP)

Mungos Hi Fi – “Serious time” (LP)

SCOBLP004_Front_500The Scotch aren’t slowing down. Their collaborations with Major Lazer and Prince Fatty are still fresh and yet we get a double LP on which we can hear meeting of modern sounds with classic ones straight from Studio One. It’s also a meeting of vocal legends and high-flyers of sound system scene – on the one hand Peter Metro, Cornel Campbell and on the other Charlie P or Pupajim, the leading young vocalists of the last years. Although I don’t listen to sounds presented by Mungos Hi Fi in high doses, I approach every their release with a big curiosity and, what’s best, I’m hardly ever disappointed. I found them masters of connecting the old productions with the modernity and their own, original style.

On the beginning of “Serious time” we get a huge shell from YT himself, then also on a classic Studio One rhythm appears Warrior Queen, one of the best female chatters, just like Soom T, who’s in her element on Mungos’ rhythms. We slowly approach half of the album with Pupajim, who chats about loveliness of driving a bike (my favorite tune from this album), although the next one also causes you smile and blush. All of that because of the initial theme from 80’s hit song “Axel F” by Nil Rodgers, which has also been used in “Beverly Hills Cop” movie, in Mungos’ version vocally enchanted by Mr. Williamz. After a hit like that we stay in dancehall-ish climate with Speng Bond and then Soom T flows on a dubstep rhythm, just like Marina P, who sings about nowadays slavery. Solo Banton also presents us a beautiful story in ”Dancehall school” on a classical, but spiced up with a modern sauce Sleng Teng, then Charlie P takes the reins and chats about “green tea”. The next track is a bow to 80s UK sound systems by a veteran Peter Metro. Blackout JA perfectly flows on a dancehall riddim and then you can listen to Charlie P for the second time, here he tells us story of his attraction to sound system scene. Second to last is a fat tune with Parly B, but it surely does not eclipse the last one – Cornel’s “Jah say Love” – amazing rhythm and the best, harmonical voice of a legend (that tune is another pearl from the album). If you love strong bass rhythms, you can’t pass this album by, and if you still aren’t convinced, maybe the guest list will tip the balance.

Young Warriors – atak młodych Charlie P & Biga Ranx

Young Warriors – atak młodych Charlie P & Biga Ranx

Sorry, this entry is only available in Polish. For the sake of viewer convenience, the content is shown below in the alternative language. You may click the link to switch the active language.

Oby go mutacja nie zjadła.
