Dub-Stuy Records presents the classic Kunta Kinte riddim taken into the 21st century by DJ Madd with excellent, different voicing styles featuring raggamuffin soldier Burro Banton, Bristol-based unique Rider Shafique and melodic Shanti D. The timeless, well-known melody, recognised everywhere, fitted into refined DJ Madd’s dub aesthetics. A killer tribute to the history of Jamaican and sound system music.

[Review] Dub Invaders vol. 3 – Part 3 (Jarring Effects)

[Review] Dub Invaders vol. 3 – Part 3 (Jarring Effects)

Adobe Photoshop PDFDub Invaders strike with the part 3 of their 3rd release series. And they strikes literally with the help of cosmic guns and lasers. The A side is something like “Scientist meets The Space Invaders” on steroids – ruff&tuff heavy digital steppea combined made by Natural High Dubs with mild vocals of Shanti D is kicking us outerspace. 100% of heavyweight stuff!

On the flip side we get also deep dub and the dangerous atmosphere created by Fabassstone perfectly suits with beautiful Earl’s 16 vocal and lyrics about global warming.

The release is available in good record shops now.

New releases from Control Tower

New releases from Control Tower

Dub-Addict-D-BanControl Tower doesn’t slow down and lets out two new releases straight from France – the authors are Dub Addict Sound System and dubVeda. The first one is active since 2005, created by amazing musical persons like Pilah, Nineteen, Anti-Bypass, Roots Massacre and Joe Pilgrim, all have a huge amount of good productions on their accounts. This time they present us a collaboration between producer Anti-Bypass and vocalist Joe Pilgrim, who created amazing roots&culture style tune ‘Humanity Arise’. On the B side we can hear Shanti D, known from cooperation with O.B.F. Track ‘The Toy is Broken’ is also a top-style dub recalling 70’s productions. Shanti’s voice timbre is similar to Horace Andy’s voice, what effects in a really great tune. It’s worth to stop by the dub version filled with amazing mood, clearly inspired with the king of dub – King Tubby. A real masterpiece.

CC003_frontThe second release is much more mysterious, as I meet dubVeda for the first time. dubVeda are conjoined forces of Mystiknarf known from Improvisators Dub and Nagual X, who plays in Illégal Dub and operates in Laboxprod. It’s a mixture of dub deep electro roots, as they describe their style. The A side with ‘Dub Indian Kogis’ is a journey into the world of etno flavoured music and the B side with ‘Early Mad Dub’, with a lot of ethnic threads flows into ska stylization. Dub version titled ‘Mad Dub’, where everything is more vivid and climatic, is a real killer – reminds me of early Zion Train productions.

Berry’s Records – “Education is the key” (7”)

Berry’s Records – “Education is the key” (7”)

BSR001_sideA_promoRoots Raid is French-based duo of Natty ODG and Bongo Ben. Their brand new 7” is available now, issued by Berry’s Record and distributed via Control Tower. The release is a tribute to Junior Murvin – Shanti D sings in his style and gives us always actual message about self-education. Musically we got solid steppers with strong rhythm, filled mainly with percussions and drum sounds, crossed somewhere with some crazy synths or melodica.

Trzeci singiel od Dubatriation Records

Sorry, this entry is only available in Polish. For the sake of viewer convenience, the content is shown below in the alternative language. You may click the link to switch the active language.
