Tiqur Ambassa Meets Kibir La Amlak (KLA Dub Box)

Tiqur Ambassa Meets Kibir La Amlak (KLA Dub Box)

KLA009ASeria KLA Dub Box to już pewnie u niektórych selektorów „must have”, a trzecia płyta utwierdza w tym przekonaniu i zadowoli każdego soundsystemowego maniaka.

Kibir La Amlak – „Heavens Declare / Firmament” (KLA Dub Box)

Kibir La Amlak – „Heavens Declare / Firmament” (KLA Dub Box)

PS. Na kwiecień Kibir La Amlak szykuje kolejną 7” z cyklu Dub Box, więc bądźcie gotowi na nową, konkretną produkcje!

Kibir La Amlak & Maija – „Restoreth My Soul” (7”)

Kibir La Amlak & Maija – „Restoreth My Soul” (7”)

ARTIST PROFILE…

DUBKASM:

Dubkasm is one of the key components in the international roots and dub movement, originally formed in 1994 during the emergence period of the UK ‘digital dub’ sound. Their work first appeared two years later on the complilation album ‘Dub Out West’ (Nubian Records NRLP15). Branching into new musical realms, their 2009 Transform I set went on to be reinvented by Bristol’s finest Dubstep producers, featuring remixes by Pinch, Peverelist, Appleblim & Gatekeeper, Headhunter, Guido, Gemmy, RSD, Hyetal, Forsaken and Jakes. They continue to release material and play live across the globe.

Sufferah’s Choice Recordings is an independent record label based in the iconic town of Bristol, UK. Named after DJ Stryda’s renowned Bristol radio show, it has been a vehicle for Dubkasm’s music since 2003 and is known for its authentic yet innovative sounds and philosophy.

Dubkasm’s first release on Sufferah’s Choice in 2003 was a 12 inch featuring ‘Hornsman Trod’ and ‘Strictly Ital’, two UK roots instrumentals with the latter featuring Bristol’s own Ras Addis. Since then they have collaborated with many of the UK’s greats including cult legends such as Aba Shanti-I, Iration Steppas, Levi Roots and Dub Judah. Their debut album ‘Transform I’ saw the duo incorporate Brazilian instrumentation and vocals, the result of many years work carried out between the musical hubs of their hometown Bristol and Brazil, where Digistep lived for five years.

KIBIR LA AMLAK:

Kibir La Amlak (an Amharic term which translates as: Glory to JAH) is a roots and culture sound system playing conscious reggae music.

Spiritually the aim of the sound is to create an atmosphere which is conducive to experiencing the divine qualities of music and the JAH given gift of wo/mans ability to connect with the Most High through the power of rhythm, harmony and word sound.

Materially the sound system in terms of equipment is constructed in such a way to give listeners the chance to be fully submersed in the power of the full spectrum of frequency, making the experience physical as well as audible. The drum and the bass can be literally felt in the body, giving direct connection to the African heartbeat that pervades the music.

Although we acknowledge there is a degree of materialistic / egotistical desire in the sound system tradition, we pray that the giving of Glory to JAH is experienced as first and foremost when we play. In this way a balance between both spiritual and material can be maintained.

Alongside the sound system Kibir La Amlak also runs a studio and record label to further promote and push the works.

History…

The sound started as a two box youth sound in the 90’s playing at house parties and community centres. From those times till now the sound has stayed with the tradition of being 'homegrown’. Everything from the tweeter boxes to the amp racks and the dubplates played through it are hand built.

JT and Stamina Li first linked in 2005, under the ’12 Jewels’ camp along with Aslan formed the Horns of Jericho Sound System, then in 2007, JT and Stamina, set up a new sound named Teshuvah Hi-Fi. In 2008, after a period of reflection and meditation the sound emerged with a new name, Kibir La Amlak (meaning 'Glory to JAH’ in Amharic).

I-lodica/Kibir La Amlak- I-lodic Rock/Dub Rock (Kibir La Amlak 2010)
