Zapraszamy na ostatnią indorową sesję przed wakacjami z udziałem systemu nagłośnieniowego JAH LOVE. Tak jak ostatnio całość spotkania z kulturą soundsystemową i muzyką DUB/RAGGAMUFFIN/DIGITAL odbędzie się na warszawskim skłocie Przychodnia. Stawiamy na niezależność, samodzielność i antykonsumpcjonizm, odrzucamy kluby, ich rygor i babilońskie podejście. MIŁOŚĆ, RÓWNOŚĆ i POMOC WZAJEMNA!

Na tej sesji pokażemy wam, jaką rolę w kulturze soundsytemowej, pełnią deejaye. Nawijacz, bo tak po polsku nazywa deejaya. To ten, który ujeżdża różne riddimy, ma za zadanie freestylować i śpiewać teksty swoich szlagierów, na zupełnie nieznanych sobie, często granych tylko przez dany soundsystem, ekskluzywnych wersjach różnych rytmów. Za wybór płyt tego wieczoru odpowiedzialni będą selektorzy Jah Love sound system . U ich boku swoje deejayskie umiejętności zaprezentują:

Dubateers&Zareb – “One Day”

The newest Dubateers’ album will soon hit the streets. Nick “Dubateers” – one of the pioneers of heavy dub sounds from the UK invited talented Jamaican vocalist Zareb to compose and sing over the riddims.

The first song with wicked organ sound slowly introduces us to the album. We hear “This is Zareb!” as a welcome message, the introduction continues next in “Congo Bongo Natty”, a digital riddim but when the heavy bass comes we know what is the foundation of Dubateers…And we jump into “Jah Jah A Di Ruler”, a modern dub riddim with sharp synths. LP’s title track “One Day” is a classic sound system mash-up tune in a rootical style with a fast tempo and horns part, supported by a dub version. Then the heaviest tunes take control – yes, if you know Dubateers’ rollers like these ones from “Dub From The Vaults” series then you know what kind of earthquake you can expect. A pure, digital, heavyweight style.

What is very good on this album – Zareb use his voice in many different flavours and his vocal is very catchy and melodic, from chanting to chatting. The final track – mashing “Roll River Jordan” is a great summary of this original album.

Jah Love to warszawski kolektyw selektorski kochający trzeszczenie winylowych płyt i pulsujący bas. Poprzez ciężkie, dubowe brzmienia niosą świadomy przekaz. Idea założenia soundsystemu zrodziła się w 2009r w Lublinie. Na początku Jah Love zajął się organizacją cyklicznych imprez w Niezależnym Centrum Kultury w stolicy. Imprezy te wpisały się w warszawską scenę muzyki reggae nie tylko przez swoje walory muzyczne, ale też przez specyficzny klimat panujący na squacie. Po dwóch latach i wielu różnych imprezach został zbudowany soundsystem.
W czerwcu 2011 roku wraz z Syntopą założyli kolektyw Mystic Dubs, w ramach którego organizują i współorganizują wiele imprez, między innymiWarsaw Underground Festival: Reggae vs Dubstep czy DUB CLUB Warsaw
Trudno wyrazić słowami ich muzykę. Chłopaki uwielbiają ciężkie basowe uderzenie, ale nie zapominają o korzeniach i na każdej ich imprezie można poczuć promienie trójkolorowego słońca wiszącego nad nimi. Ich sety są bardzo różnorodne od spokojnego, uduchowionego rootsu przez głęboki dub, kończąc na wgniatającym w parkiet uk dubie.

Vibration Lab – “Brass Plant EP” (Reggae Roast)

Vibration Lab are debuting on the Reggae Roast label with “Brass Plant EP” – 5 track combining a classic reggae foundation with futuristic sounds. They have already proved their visionary approach mixing old&new, getting all the best from tradition and adding modern bass music vibes and this EP is another proof of their musical openness. Each tune shows a hybrid sound – a steady reggae rhythm, some instrumental melodies mixed with digital synths and additives known from modern dub&dubstep, Everything based on solid, heavy basslines and dubbed in a nice, gentle way. Very pleasant listening!

Dub Stuy’s second download in DubVault series – Dubamine “Legend”

Dub Stuy Records reveals the second release in their free download series DubVault. This time we get a deep&dark track from Californian based producer Dubamine. The track is built around Alborosie’s “Rub a Dub Style” vocal sample, surrounded by dubbed out melodies, with half time percussions and a sharp synth theme. A dense atmosphere is multiplied by a deep bassline. Dubamine’s, aka Lucas Heinel inspiration were local dubstep pioneers such as Matty G, DJ G, and Antiserum and influences of this genre combined with reggae and dub style can be hear in “Legend”.

Paproota Dub Compilation vol. 4

Polish netlabel Paproota has recently released their fourth dub compilation. It brings us some recognizable names from other netlabels&labels including Wicked Dub Division, PhoniAndFlore, Mr Zebre or Max Powa but also some less-known artists who I hope will become also more visible across the dub world – Jabbadub, Kalina In Dub, Gradu Minimo, Du3Normal, Arubdub and all others, I’ve listened this compilation with pleasure, as a excellent selection for your basement dub party. Mostly filled with electronic steppa madness, deep and heavyweight in some minutes will let you rest for a while with more rootical, instrumental but still bassy tunes.
