New releases from Control Tower

Dub-Addict-D-BanControl Tower doesn’t slow down and lets out two new releases straight from France – the authors are Dub Addict Sound System and dubVeda. The first one is active since 2005, created by amazing musical persons like Pilah, Nineteen, Anti-Bypass, Roots Massacre and Joe Pilgrim, all have a huge amount of good productions on their accounts. This time they present us a collaboration between producer Anti-Bypass and vocalist Joe Pilgrim, who created amazing roots&culture style tune ‘Humanity Arise’. On the B side we can hear Shanti D, known from cooperation with O.B.F. Track ‘The Toy is Broken’ is also a top-style dub recalling 70’s productions. Shanti’s voice timbre is similar to Horace Andy’s voice, what effects in a really great tune. It’s worth to stop by the dub version filled with amazing mood, clearly inspired with the king of dub – King Tubby. A real masterpiece.

CC003_frontThe second release is much more mysterious, as I meet dubVeda for the first time. dubVeda are conjoined forces of Mystiknarf known from Improvisators Dub and Nagual X, who plays in Illégal Dub and operates in Laboxprod. It’s a mixture of dub deep electro roots, as they describe their style. The A side with ‘Dub Indian Kogis’ is a journey into the world of etno flavoured music and the B side with ‘Early Mad Dub’, with a lot of ethnic threads flows into ska stylization. Dub version titled ‘Mad Dub’, where everything is more vivid and climatic, is a real killer – reminds me of early Zion Train productions.

Imperial Sound Army – “Doyen/Bravery” (12”)

Imperial Sound Army – “Doyen/Bravery” (12”)

Brand new 12” from Imperial Sound Army is now available in the shops – composed and mixed by Dan I, issued by his Imperial Roots Records and distributed and marketed by Control Tower Records. We have two tracks on this release, both voiced by Fikir Amlak in modern roots style. Musically riddims are rather heavy and each vocal version has 2 different mixes with some new flavour – especially interesting piece is second version of “Doyen”, which changes the riddim from one drop to steppers and this shows how much different energy can be brought by changing the drums line.

Roots Ista Posse – “Dub The Iron / Bull Horn” (10”)

Roots Ista Posse – “Dub The Iron / Bull Horn” (10”)

R!P-1005-PROMOHalf a year after their last release Roots Ista Posse again make fans happy by releasing fresh 10”. A side contains undoubtedly heavyweight dub “Dub The Iron part I & II” – energetic, with tuff bassline and fast tempo. B side carries “Bull Horn part I & II”, slower tune but with devastating bass, which wonderfully gives a hard workout to speakers.

With this new 10” Roots Ista Posse confirm only my opinion, that their productions can be bought blindly! The vinyl is released by well known dub activists from Control Tower, you can grab it in their shop.

Idren Natural meets IDavid – “Soulfull”

Idren Natural meets IDavid – “Soulfull”

INIONE-001_coverI think I don’t have to introduce to you that sound system warrior, but it’s worth to mention a few facts. Idren Natural is present on the scene for almost 20 years. He belongs to Ini Oneness crew and has been released on a few 7” and 12”s with producers like Jah Works or Dub Creator. 2014 brought an LP with him and a producer IDavid, who works in Guidance Studio. We have here 5 Idren’s tunes and 5 dubs by IDavid in UK steppers climate. The lyrics are filled with spirituality (“Depth of my soul” or “Knowledge, Wisdom and Understanding”) and respect to the sound system culture (“Soundman culture”). That topic is grateful to laud and the public will surely like it – tunes like that were recorded by i.a. YT with Digitaldubs – “Sound system culture”, Macky Banton with Ackboo – “Turn up the amplifier” or Dubdadda with Zion Train – “Hail the selector”. Now we can add Idren to this upright circle because “Soundman culture” along with the dub version is this album’s killer. The whole release is amazingly energetic, what is also confirmed by “Gideon Time” and the title track. A separate thing are the dub versions, which are incredible, with beautiful melodica melodies and a deep bass. The album is distributed by French Control Tower so there is nothing else than order it quickly.

Control Tower attacking!

Control Tower attacking!

largeFrench label Control Tower serves us 12″ record featuring rasta warrior Fitta Warri. He’s known in Poland due to DJ Perch – in 2005 Zion Train had a tour, on which Molara played for the last time and Fitta Warri for the first time. Thereafter, Deep Root label released few singles with his tunes on riddims made by Abassi and then there were no hearing about him. Of course he made some songs, unfortunately on a poor level. Recording soundsystem killer “Hammer Dem Down” in 2011 was the turning point. Recently, Fitta recorded “Drum sound” and it might be conquering soundsystem sessions as well. Meekman is responsible for the riddim and Dub Machinist for the dub version. Anybody, who forget about mad vocalist named Fitta Warri should quickly catch up.

A1- Fitta Warri – Drum Sound
A2- Meekman – Infinite Drum Dub

B1- Meekman – No Dumb Dub
B2- Dub Machinist – Whawise Dub
