[Review] I-Skankers – “In His Name” (I-Skankers Records)

‘In His Name’ is the 3rd I-Skankers release at their own label, excluding 7 dubplates released on their own. This time we get a riddim with Ranking Fox and Anthony Fox ruling the vocals on A side, which is topped out by an UK roots style dub version with nyahbhingi elements. B side contains isntrumentalists performances – Yanna Sax on the sax, Steppin Pablo on melodica and another strong dub version.

I-Skankers went for roots here and they did it really well!

Dan I Locks – “Jah Is Near”

Dan I Locks – “Jah Is Near”

isd7004-flyer_pixel-promo-webThis one is a next, good I-Skankers’ release. Dan I Locks (Deng Deng Hi Fi/Sweden) has already voiced many great tunes, but I think that he is not recognizable enough yet. “Jah is near” is a heavy and ruff steppa dubplate produced by Echo Roots. The voice of Dan I Locks perfectly fits with the riddim and bring up some serious warrior vibez. Makes you wanna sing “leggo you worries” with him!

I-Skankers Records: Charlie P – “Ina The Ghetto” (12”)

I-Skankers Records: Charlie P – “Ina The Ghetto” (12”)

ISR12002_Flyer_I-SkankersGood news from France thanks to International Skankers Sound System, the crew from Rennes, which – besides spreading sound system vibes – runs also I-Skankers label. On their recent, second release we have UK talent Charlie P, who sounds great on tuff, steppers riddim singing touching lyrics. Similar like on the first release the music is made by French producer Dub Foundry, supported by RDH. On the flip side we got 2 dubs called “Dub is harder” and “Dub is raw” – these titles tells everything…
