[Review] Mahom & Sista Bethsabee, Adi Shankara & Maicee

Culture-Dub-Records-CDR006-banIt’s already the 6th release from Culture Dub Records, this time dominated by Mahom (http://dubmassive.org/en/search/mahom). The A side is ‘Justice’ – a heavy, electronic approach to dub music with a climatic vocals and strong lyrics from Sista Bethsabee; the B side is a UK stepper containing nature sounds – couldn’t be any different in a track called ‘The Big Bad Zoo’ with beautiful vocals of a young warrior Maicee. The dub version desires attention as well – Montepellier dubmaker Adi Shankara shows his skills alongside Mahom.

Heavyweight dub from Culture Dub Records

CDR004-banThe combined forces of the two French teams involved in the dub have released two brilliant 10”. Culture Dub Records and Control Tower are the highest quality mark in the world of dub. The first release which they are presenting is a digital, heavy rhythm by the duo Digital Seal, enriched with amazing vocals of Sista Bethsabee, who in the tune “Little Things” won my heart. Also what did the guys from Digital Seal on page B in the track “Spellin” is the world championship in a climate of Stand High and it will definitely rock the dub arenas. The second 10” is also a killer – again we have Sista Bethsabee on vocals, while a heavyweight riddim is made by Mexican Stepper, best known for publishing in netlabels – but recently he is also increasingly appearing on vinyl.  The tune “Better Life” is a solid dub where the bass rumbles and floats above the earth. The second tune “Irie” also with beautiful vocals by Sista Bethsabee is a heavyweight steppers roller. Long time I have not heard so brilliant, beautiful women’s voice  on such heavy riddims that I love!
