MURRAY-DEF-e1432063206553BLACKOUT-A-JUNGLEWhen I receive information about new Digi.Signa releases I listen to it as soon as possible and it never disappoints me (http://dubmassive.org/en/search/digi+signa ). My joy is doubled now as the label gave us two 12″‘s, the first one in a heavy dub style produced by Murray Man and Zion Train and the second one in a jungle style, but with some dub accents. Murray Man sings ‘Blazing Fire’ on a heavy rhythm, remixed by Perch who created one of the best Zion Train riddims alongside the horns crew. The other one is a heavy jungle hit with vocals by Blackout JA and a stepper killer remix by Numa Crew –  extraordinarily powerful!

Rub-a-dub from Cubiculo Records – B-No feat. Peter Youthman & Tuli Ranks

Rub-a-dub from Cubiculo Records – B-No feat. Peter Youthman & Tuli Ranks

The forthcoming 12” release from cubiculoCubiculo Records presents very nice, rootical rub-a-dub style with Peter Youthman and Tuli Ranks on the vocals. The former provides us conscious lyrics about homeless people. The vocal version is followed by the dub one, which perfectly shows B-No’s musical style – a calm rhythm, a little big digital, with nice melodies where everything is balanced. On the B side we get lovers tune with American singer Tuli Ranks, this time the track is shipped as an  extended version.

A double strike from Reggae Roast

A double strike from Reggae Roast

RR024_-_ArtworkYou know Reggae Roast from our reviews very well (http://dubmassive.org/en/search/reggae+roast). This time we are presenting two releases from this very active crew.

“Flava” EP with Brother Culture is a natural consequence after their very well acclaimed tune “Soundsystem”, which has been powering many soundsystem sessions. Here we get 5 strong tracks, where digital is mixed with heavier, dub-style parts and Brother Culture another times proves his skills as one of the best soundsystem vocalist.

The second release is a 7” bomb with Kenny Knots and Conscious Sounds. They have renewed a classic, killer tune from the 80s “Watch How The People Dancing“, which was recorded for Unity Sounds.

In this version the tempo was fastened and based on a theme from another hit from hip-hop world – Dr Dre “Next Episode”. But don’t worry, Dougie Counscious have done his work very well by adding dub style into the riddim. The best term to describe this production is probably “heavyweight digital”. A killa tune without a doubt!

Strictly Dub Records – “Dreadlocks” Danman&Riddim Tuffa

Strictly Dub Records – “Dreadlocks” Danman&Riddim Tuffa

A-SDRV7002‘Dreadlocks’ is the second 7” of an Estonian label Strictly Dub Records. The music is created by Riddim Tuffa crew alongside Truth Town Players and the vocal belongs to Danman from Iration Steppas. This is a solid stepper with retro synths and a strong, breathtaking bassline where Danman flows on the riddim and sends all the dreadlocks to Zion.

Additionally from website’s label you can download a tune by Rebelsteppa, Burian Fyah and Variedub, which is a reworked old riddim from King Jammy’s ‘Jailhouse’ featuring Junior Reid.

Dubateers – “A Decade of Dub”

Dubateers – “A Decade of Dub”

DecadeOfDubYes, it is a decade of Dubateers music at the sound system arenas. For me it’s a personal thing, because many of Nick’s productions were my introduction to the world of dub from UK. And now many of them is available for us on one release!

If you are deep into dub you will know and recognize them, if you are new then this album is a must for your musical education. Indisputable killers like “Jah Make We” with Singer Blue, “We rule”, “My people” with Carliesa Meakes, crazy “Twilight Skank” but also a lot of unreleased, instrumental dubs! A ruff&tuff guide to Dubateers’ musical style – digital madness based on a heavyweight bassline, often with fast tempo, with a catchable, recognizable main theme – just listen “Jah Make We” or “We Rule” and you will now what I’m talking about. And this album has one of my most favourite tracks with Creation Stepper – “Go Backayard”, mixed by Disciples, followed by a really raw and rough dub version.

Nish Wadada meets Delmighty Sounds – “Queens and Kings”

Nish Wadada meets Delmighty Sounds – “Queens and Kings”

nish wadadaNish Wadada is singing for many years, but she has started to be visible at roots&culture scene in recent times. Born in Holland, after spending some time in her mother and fatherland Africa where she was searching her roots, she is now back in Europe and giving us top roots&dub music. “Queens & Kings” EP is one of her latest releases which concludes 2 years of working with Jah Version, Roots Dimension and Taking Over Productions, with the appearance of such legends like Matic Horns. These tracks are an excellent combination of her very melodic, soft but powerful voice with top UK roots&dub style riddims. The title track or “Divine Intervention” are the best proof of this – earthshaking sounds with strong vocal and lyrics. Definitely waiting for more!

DubVault #3 download – Double Tiger vs. Aswad – “Warrior Charge Recut” (Dub-Stuy Records)

DubVault #3 download – Double Tiger vs. Aswad – “Warrior Charge Recut” (Dub-Stuy Records)

[DS-DV003] ArtworkThis is the third release in DubVault series by Dub-Stuy Records from New York. This time you can download for free a recut of a famous track – “Warrior Charge” by Aswad. This melody is known for almost every sound system fan because it is a big UK roots tune and it was included in a very popular film “Babylon”, which is a mandatory item if you want  to get to know something about sound system culture.

The track have been remixed by Double Tiger aka Jay Spaker from Dub-Stuy Records / Tour de Force project. It has a heavier bassline and kicks but the spirit of the original, with blazing horns, is kept – it cannot be otherwise with such classical anthem!

Grab it for free from Soundcloud and play loud.
