“Rudebwoy Corporation” EP (Lion’s Den)

“Rudebwoy Corporation” EP (Lion’s Den)

LIONS4WD001_frontEvery time I hear about Lion’s Den’s new release I wonder what they will surprise me this time. I got used to guests in the form of interesting  vocalists and amazing, creative producers (often less known). This time they join forces with Italian label 4Weed and give us 12” with 6 heavy productions. Side A is 3 tunes with music of Dub All Sense, who has created very heavy riddims. On vocals we have Mr Williamz (already known, among others, from cooperation with Mungos Hi Fi) with incredibly strong Haffi Bun”; MrDill Lion Warriah from Italy in My Story” has showed how to flow over a typical dub roller. Longfingah in “Old Shatterhandproves his high form. Side B are remixes that will make smile on the faces of all dubheads. At the beginning we get version from French Welders Hi Fi Haffi Bun” is even stronger than the original, which seemed impossible Another surprise is the remix by Zion Train in “Another story“, in his style, with exposed bass, he lift us above the orbit. At the end we get a remix by Jambassa from Italy, who used to work a lot in the netlabel Aquietbump. Here they present amazing tune, slightly embedded in the style of minimal dub.

Two new 12” with Disciples (Khaliphonic label)

Two new 12” with Disciples (Khaliphonic label)

khaliphonic02_disciples_backZamZam Sounds’ long-format sister-label Khaliphonic presents their second release – two 12” with four tunes by Disciples. And these ones are somewhat different than last Russ D productions. Produced in 1999, they are deep, hypnotic, more trance-like, truly dub soundscapes – charming with space and mysterious echoes. As Russ said: “The sound was somewhat influenced by the Rhythm & Sound / Tikiman stuff. At the time I was checking them a little… that minimal sound.

I hope that Russ D have more such tunes – they are simply addictive…

Danny Red – “Rasta We Rasta” (Youth&Truth)

Danny Red – “Rasta We Rasta” (Youth&Truth)

Danny_Red-Rasta_We_RastaA new, Belgian label Youth & Truth has started its activity forcefully by releasing 12” “Rasta We Rasta”. Forward Fever is responsible for the production, thanks to Dub Fi Youth crew he can show his music to the world and his riddim is a great prove, that he knows how to satisfy dubheads. On the vocal we have great Danny Red and his anthem “Rasta We Rasta” even before releasing this single had become a killer tune in Belgium. The second vocalist on this 12” is Idren Natural, who nicely fits into the riddim in his own style. We also get a version with with a beautiful part of trumpet performed by Jamma Dim form Reservoir Dub, which simply floored me. At the end we have a pure version, in which we can listen to many tasteful sounds. Congratulations for Forward Fever and label crew for this great debut!

Rootikal Dub Foundation feat. MrDill Lion Warriah/El Nadie (4 Weed Records)

4WDV001 Artwork4weed is a Italian label/netlabel, which has appeared on our site several times. This time they have released 12” loaded with a seriously heavyweight dub. All of this due to Rootikal Dub Foundation, who serve us amazing steppers “It’s time to change” with beautiful saxophone’s part, additionally MrDill Lion Warriah appears on the vocal, ideally fitting into the track with great lyrics. Also we get a dub version by 4weed All Stars, which gives us a lot of kickin’ bass and transports us to a soundsystem arena. B-No ft. Trevor Junior – “People Are Changing” (Cubiculo Records)

B-No ft. Trevor Junior – “People Are Changing” (Cubiculo Records)

FB_Label7_CR_1Cubiculo Records label surprises me with each, new release. After their last trip to rocksteady area now they return to their favourite rub a dub style – but in a classic way, in contrast to the previous more digital release. The classics we mainly owe to Trevor Junior, a reggae legend from 80., who, on the riddim by French producer’s B-no from Upfull Posse Crew, proves that rub a dub is still very well even in the times, when this genre is not so popular as back in the days. Trevor signs, that “people are changing” in these hard times and everyone has some problems. A big plus for Trevor and B-no for such uplifting riddim and words!
