Tour De Force & Ranking Joe – “Back to Africa” (Dub-Stuy Records)

Tour De Force & Ranking Joe – “Back to Africa” (Dub-Stuy Records)

[DS-SP001] Artwork - FrontAfter very successful  albums (http://dubmassive.org/tag/tour-de-force) Tour De Force crew once again shows us how to be fresh and visionary on the musical market. This time they invited to cooperation legendary DJ Ranking Joe, whose chatting and toasting skills are continuously on a very high level and always carry a conscious, Rastafari message.

In “Back to Africa” he talks about slavery and a spiritual return to the motherland. This serious lyrics is based on a militant, heavyweight steppers with strong horns, classic reggae/dub with solid bass and Tour De Force’s unique style, known since their first releases. On “Battle Cry Remixed” they showed their support for different artists from many musical areas, so it is also on this release – Doctor Jeep’s dancfloor-driven, deep breakbeat remix transforms this rhythmical tune into wild trance beat.

The release is available as 12”/digital download.

Jah Free – “Jah Guide and Protect” / “Sons and Dawtas” (Jah Free Music)

Jah Free – “Jah Guide and Protect” / “Sons and Dawtas” (Jah Free Music)

jah fJah Free is is an icon of dub from UK and for me it is one of those persons from whom my adventure with dub music took on a different dimension. There are several reasons for this – firstly, the music, a heavyweight style Jah Free is still holding up, secondly – the message, always conscious and important and third – 30 years of experience on a sound system stage, it requires respect and admiration.

In confirmation of the above we get a new 12” from Jah Free Music. The A side is a strong, heavy steppers in distinct Jah Free’s style, enriched with Sister Simiah’s vocals. In “Jah Guide and Protect” she praises the Most High and gives hope that even in the most twisted situations, there is a chance for a helping hand. In a dub version a lot of echos and reverbs are introduced, it’s more trance. We get also a version for vocalists. The B side is also unique, we should mention here that rarely happens 12” such  equal as this one. In “Sons and Dawtas” Jah Free gives us mystical sounds and deep rooted rhythm, perfectly integrated into the bassline and vocals – here, to my delight,  Sister Simiah appears again  with a beautiful text about the birth of a new life and deep love for our children. I suspect that this one will hit selectors, who are lucky and can enjoy their babies. Similar as on the A side we get a dub version and a pure riddim.

Jah Free once again shows, that a conscious message goes hand in hand with conscious dub – just dubwise without compromise! It’s really worth to get this record – an extraordinary, positive energy boost!

Earthikal Towa – “Serious Time” EP ft. Murray Man, Petah Sunday & Natty Jack

Earthikal Towa – “Serious Time” EP ft. Murray Man, Petah Sunday & Natty Jack

Italian dub still in good shape, the sound system scene in Italy is on the rise, now due to Earhikal Towa Sound System straight from Rome. They have been acting on the scene since 2008 and their new release is the 4th production on wax  – earlier they have presented us such artists like Paco Ten, Mighty Howard or Brother Culture.

The riddim on “Serious Time” EP is the work of Dread Rocker from Earthikal Towa, who made a powerful tune with a solid bass, moving like a slow, huge roller. Murry Man charmed this riddim as the first with strong lyrics, where he raises serious topics about our times. Also Petah Sunday, Earthikal Towa’s vocalist, in “Chatty Mouth” keeps Murry Man’s conscious message and Natty Jack in “Prime Ministra” leaves no doubt, who is responsible for the situation surrounding them. On the B side we have three versions: a dub one, with saxophone and “Warrior Cut”, which should smash a dancefloor on a good sound system.

Mystical Records presents Idren Natural & Mystical Powa & Addis Pablo

Mystical Records presents Idren Natural & Mystical Powa & Addis Pablo

PrintWe’ve been writing about Mystical Powa recently, about their collaboration with Kibir La Amlak (http://dubmassive.org/7818/mystical-powa-meets-kibir-la-amlak).This time two great artists met on their new 12” – Idren Natural and Addis Pablo. The A side belongs to the first one, who is one of the most characteristic vocalist on the sound system scene for me. His mystical, hypnotic vibe is heard especially in “Hold a Gathering” where the producers from Mysitcal Powa also added their mystic to this steppers style riddim. The B side belongs to Addis Pablo and his melodica, which is a very successful completion of the main theme.

Radikal Guru – “Digitalizer Riddim” EP

Radikal Guru – “Digitalizer Riddim” EP

851x350_fbcover1

From 16th of February a new Radikal Guru’s EP -“Digitalizer Riddim” – will be available on the market. The main idea of this release is the riddim from “Stay Calm” track from previous album “Subconscious” with YT on the vocal – which is a powerful dub, with a resonating bass and characteristic horns. And now we get also dub version and great Cian Finn, who in “Sound System” describes feelings close to probably every fan of sound system sessions. Also, to my great joy, we have version with El Fata, who in “Get Up” with his melodic chat encourages us to move to the music. As a bonus track we have dub version with vocal snippets from all versions.

EP will be available as 12” and digital download.

Amoul Bayi Records – Stamina Li & Saah Karim

Amoul Bayi Records – Stamina Li & Saah Karim

a0116418105_2Amoul Bayi Records label presents us a new 12” with talented vocalist Saah Karim from Senegal and Stamina Li. In “Gunman Sound” Saah with his voice and lyrics about fighting the system with sounds perfectly fits into this steppers riddim, produced by Rootical45 – that is Mc Oliva from Blackboard Jungle. The B side of this 12” belongs to Sta’Sax aka Stamina Li, who adds a great part of saxophone to the riddim. Watch for new releases from Amoul Bayi Records – firstly on the grounds of great guests, secondly – because of essential roots&culture music  and lastly – they have beautiful labels on records.
