[Release info] Parly B – “This is digital” EP (Scotch Bonnet)

SCOBNET003-CD_front_1500New digital boomshot from Mungo’s Hi-Fi camp – Parly B in full-flavoured release!

“Parly B first held the mic as a teenager in the 90s, inspired by dancehall legends such as Capleton, Papa San and Cutty Ranks. He got involved with his local scene in Doncaster mainly hosting Jungle nights, so he is as much hi fiat home in a rave as in a dancehall session. In fact, he only burst into the dub and reggae scene relatively recently, but with a vibe and distinctive sound that producers are hungry for, so he has quickly amassed a large catalogue. Scotch Bonnet Records felt it was time to put together a collection of his work on the label and it was hard to decide what to leave out.

Indubitably the nicest rudeboy you are likely to meet.”
Digital release available from the 18th of August,

[Review] Derrick Parker – “Returns Pon Top” (Flash Hit Records)

[Review] Derrick Parker – “Returns Pon Top” (Flash Hit Records)

derricThe recent EP from Flash Hit Records brings us talented vocalist Derrick Parker on modern digital riddims. They are made in a modern, bassy flavour – just check excellent, pounding “Gone Pon Top”, massive “Dead Sound” or “Turn It Up”! A deadly combo of steppa, heavy basslines, subtle dubbing, a digital style with classic sounds and crazy synths – the main theme from “Dead Sound”, especially in the version, is absolutely cosmic. Lovers of classic rub-a-dub style will also be satisfied, Derrick easily catches the atmosphere of a riddim and flows easily and naturally.

A highly energetic EP, full of buzzing vibes – perfect if you need a boost.

Dubateers – “A Decade of Dub”

Dubateers – “A Decade of Dub”

DecadeOfDubYes, it is a decade of Dubateers music at the sound system arenas. For me it’s a personal thing, because many of Nick’s productions were my introduction to the world of dub from UK. And now many of them is available for us on one release!

If you are deep into dub you will know and recognize them, if you are new then this album is a must for your musical education. Indisputable killers like “Jah Make We” with Singer Blue, “We rule”, “My people” with Carliesa Meakes, crazy “Twilight Skank” but also a lot of unreleased, instrumental dubs! A ruff&tuff guide to Dubateers’ musical style – digital madness based on a heavyweight bassline, often with fast tempo, with a catchable, recognizable main theme – just listen “Jah Make We” or “We Rule” and you will now what I’m talking about. And this album has one of my most favourite tracks with Creation Stepper – “Go Backayard”, mixed by Disciples, followed by a really raw and rough dub version.

Sparky Riot – “Sound & Power” EP

Sparky Riot – “Sound & Power” EP

sound powerOn the recent release from Sparky Riot legendary rub-a-dub singer Carlton Livingston meets French digital dub producer Barbés.D. “Sound & Power” is fast, skanky riddim with nice instrumental parts. Dub version is mad – dubbed properly, shakes good. Two further versions with Daman on vocal are more digital dancehall flavor inna dubwise style. Sound & Power & Dance!
