[Release Info] Dub-Stuy Presents Kunta Kinte Riddim 2017

Dub-Stuy Records presents the classic Kunta Kinte riddim taken into the 21st century by DJ Madd with excellent, different voicing styles featuring raggamuffin soldier Burro Banton, Bristol-based unique Rider Shafique and melodic Shanti D. The timeless, well-known melody, recognised everywhere, fitted into refined DJ Madd’s dub aesthetics. A killer tribute to the history of Jamaican and sound system music.

Junior Dread – “Wonderful Feeling” (Gorgon Sound ) / “Freedom” (DJ Madd)

Junior Dread – “Wonderful Feeling” (Gorgon Sound ) / “Freedom” (DJ Madd)

ms020dJunior Dread is already well-known artist, who has cooperated with Cubiculo Records, Reality Shock, Mungos Hi Fi or Dubateers. Thanks to his a little bit hoarse voice and conscious lyrics he gains hearts both listeners and producers. Moonshine Recordings label likes to polish up such diamonds and this time they have done it with the help of Gorgon Sound and DJ Madd. The former has remixed Junior’s “Wonderful Feeling”, sending this tune straight to the soundsystem arenas; definitely this begs for a dub version! On the other hand Dj Madd sends “Freedom” into dubstep and jungle areas.

Tour de Force – “Battle Cry Remixed”

Tour de Force – “Battle Cry Remixed”

COVER_BATTLECRYSeveral months after Tour de Force’s “Battle Cry” LP Dub-Stuy Records prepared a remix album, available soon as CD/Digital. And I must say that this is a “must have” item for lovers of all colours of dub and its impact on current electronic music. Listening to a remix of one title you are going from DJ Madd breaks to Double Tiger’s deep steppa; Dub Terminator serves you a dubstep flavour, while OnDubGround smashes you with electronic dub madness. Digital sounds of Naram, a reggae groove of Brain Damage or Dubmatix, club beats of Dub Gabriel and more, over 1 hour of good music. 15 tracks made by talented artists, gathered on one release, connected by idea of dub and remix – congratulation Dub-Stuy!

Gentleman’s Dub Club – Fourty Four: The Remixes

Gentleman’s Dub Club – Fourty Four: The Remixes

REMIX_EP_RGB_V4A year after Gentleman’s Dub Club album „Fourty Four” we get EP with 5 remixes produced by the best dubheads. Those are amazing tunes, for a long time I didn’t have the feeling that the remix is better than the original. Any doubts could be resolved by “Forward” version made by Dubkasm, where DJ Stryda and Digistep used the heavy, dubstepi-like rhythm adding their own, unique steppers style. I’ve been very surprised by Dubmatix, his productions charmed me lately and here he also shows his best – he exposed the bass line in “Play this” and did it gorgeously, just like I’ve been listening to King Tubby. There also is our own Radikal Guru, who made “Riot” a heavyweight tune in Iration Steppas style. The next tune is a remix from DJ Madd, who smashes the dance floors with his dubstep versions and it’s the same this time. The last tune “Give it away” by Planas leaves us in the trance state. Very successful release!

Marina P – “My homeys” (LP)

Marina P – “My homeys” (LP)

My Homeys FrontThere isn’t too many women in the dub-reggae world, but if there are any they sing outstandingly and cooperate with the best producers. One of them is Marina, who has just released her second solo album. She is the second woman after Soom T to spread her wings thanks to Mungos HiFi. Marina started her career in Italy and then moved to Paris and finally met guys from Scotland and recorded “Divorce a l’italienne”, one of hits often hearable from soundsystem stacks. It took her 5 years to record the album, which is produced by such reggae-dub aces like Mungo’s HiFi, Stand High Patrol, Jahtari, DJ Madd, ODG, Stepart or Soul Vybz. Marina P has a beautiful, soulish voice, but you can also hear a characteristic “claw” in it. She can sing softly, but as well she can flow on dubstep or ragamuffin riddim. This album isn’t too consistent – variety of the producers made it diversified – but it shows the versatility of the talented vocalist.

Obecnie mieszka i tworzy w Bristolu. Sporo namieszała 12’’ „Someone” wydana wraz z niesamowitym remixem Breakage. Tyle o Dj Madd a was zapraszam do podróży w niskie częstotliwości:
