King General

Conscious Sounds feat. King General & Pupa Jim inna Kraftwerk style

Conscious Sounds feat. King General & Pupa Jim inna Kraftwerk style

Cr12007_AsideThe recent release from Cubiculo Records is a truly deadly combination. The heart of the riddim on “Talk 2 Much EP” created by Dougie Conscious is a relick of a well-known, crucial tune for music history – “Das Model” from 1978, made by the legendary electronic avant-garde Kraftwerk. When it comes to vocal part, the choice is perfect – we get two great vocalists, who feel excellent on such riddims: King General and Pupa Jim. The result is killer, digital-electro reggae vibe written on a 12” and shipped with additional version and dub.

Big release!

10 years of Control Tower Records

10 years of Control Tower Records

avatars-000001273629-9phbde-t500x500Control Tower Records label and shop has reached 10 years of being a part of a sound system business. Probably many of you dubheads have some of their records in your box. Due to 10th Anniversary, at the end of 2015 they let out another 7″ entitled “Love we want” voiced by one & only King General outta Bush Chemists crew. Riddim was made by Val (Dawa Hi Fi) and it’s digital style perfectly works with King General as usual. It is also worthy to check out three other 7″ promoted by Control Tower, released by Original Formula (Echo Roots & E.K.S.S. / Sweden). First one is “Rootikal” – ruff digital tune with mad E.C.U. on the vocal. Second one is calm and deep oriental stepper tune produced by London based Dairy Dub. Third one is another E.K.S.S. production which is a heavyweight steppa dub tune to make you jump and skank!

We wish Control Tower Family many successes during upcoming years of their great works! Forward!

Ackboo – “Turn up the amplifier”

Ackboo – “Turn up the amplifier”

0002178356_350France brings us a lot of positive dub experience this year. The new long play made by young producer Ackboo surely has to be counted among them. He appeared on the scene around 2007 and 2 years after he released his first single “Bangladesh Dub” thanks to which the British and French scene remarked him. Since then, he released more singles, including “How Long” that opened many doors in front of him, such as performing on big European festivals. Hammerbass label (promoters of Kanka, Miniman and others) got interested in his talent and released the mentioned album, which strongly pretends to be the album of the year. Ackboo got assisted by leading soundsystem vocalists – Macky Banton recorded a tribute to the whole dub-sundsystem scene on a riddim, which presses you into the ground and teleports to a party lead by Iration Steppas. Another guest is Omar Perry on a riddim based on “Welcome to Jamrock” – flows excellently. In the next tune we get charmed by King General and the heavy bassline. Besides the known voices, we can hear some rookies – Green Cross, Marcus Gad or amazing Dr. B in awesome “Rootikal Warriors”. Musically, Ackboo is backed up by Matic Horns and Chazbo. Lastly, we have a little flavour: his “Bangladesh Dub” remixed into dubstep by ODG. There is nothing else for me to say, but the fact, that you need to buy this album! By hearing it you will discover the true meaning of heavyweight dub steppa!!!
