Zion Train – “Just Say Who” EP

Zion Train – “Just Say Who” EP

Eggy033_labelsThis is the 3rd release promoting Zion Train’s album (http://dubmassive.org/10178/zion-train-land-of-the-blind-lp), which has been awaited by many fans because of legendary Horace Andy’s participation. “Just Say Who” EP consists of 4 tracks, 3 of them are tunes that has not been  included on “Land Of The Blind” album. Rasta warrior Fitta Warri begins this release with strong message and he feels very well on Perch’s riddims. Next is Longfingah, who proves how versatile vocalist he is. And the icing on the cake – remix of “Just Say Who”, where Italians from Almamegretta meet Horace. His voice was praised many times, I can only add that we get an excellent, beautiful tune from 2 legends. I can only imagine how great it would be to have full album with such voice and such dubs…

Beam Up – “No Chains/Travelling”

Beam Up – “No Chains/Travelling”

BeamUp NoChains_Travelling SMLBeam Up has just had a little break after releasing his new LP (http://dubmassive.org/9998/beam-innerstand) and now he’s pampering his fans again, especially those beloved in classic dubs in King Tubby’s style. On the 7” we get 2 track from “Innerstand” – “No Chains” and “Travelling” and for me it is the best choice! Additionally as a download we have  dub versions (brilliant ones, it would be nice to have them on 10” or 12”) and amazing remixes by FleCK and T.Power

TelDem Com’Unity – “Absorption Remixed”

TelDem Com’Unity – “Absorption Remixed”

TDC-ABsorptionRemixed-coverIt’s been almost a year since TelDem Com’Unity releases album named Absorption (http://dubmassive.org/7366/teldem-comunity-absorption) and now we get an amazing bonus in form the of remixes of the tunes. It’s opened by Twelve Dj from High Tone who takes us to the land of dubstep without any compromise. Uzul – a French producer from Lyon also presents his version in the dubstep style, but with a different look on it. We get more space and a bit of calm from Full Dub, just like Brain Damage, whose remix, in my opinion, is the best from the whole album – it might be due to vocal parts brilliantly fitted in ‘Pay Day’ remix. There are also heavy electronic versions by Bass Elevator, Missill and well-known dubhedz OnDubGround. To sum up – this album is a definition of the wide Bass Music movement!

Dziga – “In Out/Groove” (Monkey Dub Recordings)

Dziga – “In Out/Groove” (Monkey Dub Recordings)

Italian Artwork by Korvodub scene hosts many talented producers, one of them id Dziga, who has presented his music in Fresh Poulp records (FR), 4Weed records (IT),R.esistence records (IT), Abducted records (USA), Tape Dubbing records (UA) and other labels. Now thanks to Monkey Dub Recordings he has released a single “In Out/Groove”. Two tracks from Dziga are pure dubstep vibes without compromises, where bass devastates everything on its way. An interesting addition is the remix of a track by Author feat. Danman, which can suit every dubhead’s taste.

Jah Screechy&Dub Unit&KnD – “Diggitaly Mad” (Cubiculo Records)

Jah Screechy&Dub Unit&KnD – “Diggitaly Mad” (Cubiculo Records)

FB_CR7004_OUT_NOWCubiculo label returns with its most favourite style – digital reggae. The music side of this 7” is made by Dub Unit (known from a free EP “Ganjaman” released by Cubiculo) and a debuting, Portuguese producer KnD. They have composed a digital riddim with a resonating, fat bass and synths. On the vocals we hear Jah Screechy, known from previous Cubiculo Records releases (http://dubmassive.org/7108/strictly-sound-prodz-feat-jah-screechy-7).

Emana Sound Records – “Adubtion Family”

Emana Sound Records – “Adubtion Family”

CouvertureAnnonceVinyle (2)This is the second release from Emana Sound Records, related with French Emana Sound System. The 12” contains 4 tunes with 4 dub versions and is opened by the most calm from them – “Thriller” in a steppers style, with a solid bassline prepared by Indy Boca and Jacko on the vocals. Also in “Soul Force” bass is resonating so nice and the tune is moving as a heavy roller thanks to FootPring System, moreover all juices are squeezed out in the dub version by Chazbo (who is responsible for all dub versions on this release). The B side is also a nice experience, served firstly by Prayanam, who in “Save Your Planet” used oriental themes. Joined with a strong steppers it sounds very well. And lastly my personal favourites – Stepper Allianz with “King David” – top a top heavyweight tune with energy and power, the dub version with plenty of reverbs end echoes is moving this tune in a different dimension.

Beam Up – “Innerstand”

Beam Up – “Innerstand”

beam_up_innerstand_front_coverWe have already mentioned Beam Up a couple of times (http://dubmassive.org/tag/beam-up) but album named ‘Innerstand’ will be a surprise for many of you. Until now they have been releasing genius 7’s, presenting variety of dub and giving a tribute to King Tubby, so I’ve been avidly waiting for the full album to take me on a musical trip.

Listening to it I got to Berlin and felt the Rhythm&Soundz climate, additionally meeting Terrence Alfonso Bowry, a vocalist whose main styles are blues and jazz what you can hear clearly in ‘Hanabi Dub’. The trip goes on in the direction of the hot islands accompanied by a woman with an amazing voice – Katya Tasheva in ‘Diviers’ could calm down even most nervous people using her voice. Suddenly, we land not in Jamaica but in the Land of The Rising Sun which inspired Beam Up to create ‘Kick off’, which is by the way a destination of many dub musicians. As the trip continues and in Jamaica I meet an African singer Jornick Joelick in ‘No chains’, who makes me realize what the mental slavery is and how hard it is to be free nowadays. I get back to Berlin for a small rest with “Terrence Alfonso Bowry’ in ‘Mi amor’ as it is only half of the journey. Next I get back to Asia by sounds of the ‘Fisherman’. Jornick Joelick tells me about how pleasure are journeys in ‘Travelling’ that takes me back to Jamaica and then with ‘Icchiebn’ I taste ska. After that we permanently get back to Europe where Terrence Alfonso Bowry welcomes us nicely in the rhythm of the ‘Ghost Fight’ to fall asleep by minimal sounds of the ‘Innocence’ and admire the sky with the beautiful sounds of ‘Astronomy dub’. This is how the unusual trip with Beam Up and his great friends ends.

One thing is certain – Beam Up can take me on such a journey everyday and I encourage you to open for this beautiful sounds conjured by Beam Up. Dub knows no borders!

Psalm Collective – “Footsteps of Madiba”

Psalm Collective – “Footsteps of Madiba”

PROMO 2Recently we’ve got many tracks recorded as tribute to Nelson Mandela – like OBF with Mr. Williamz http://dubmassive.org/10041/two-new-releases-from-o-b-f-sound-system or Dubass Sound System with Alpha Steppa – “Musical Tribute to Nelson Madiba Mandela”. Now the Italians from Psalm Collective join them with their melodic tune in a modern roots style – “Footsteps of Madiba”. The first vocalist is conscious DeeJay Macka B and next we have a deep dub version by Paolo Baldini, known – amongst the others – from Alambic Conspiracy. The B side consists of two vocal versions – by Ras Twelde & History Man and Asante Amen, all nicely fit into the riddim. In the end we get instrumental version.
