“My Music” by Dubkasm in dub

“My Music” by Dubkasm in dub

dubkasmTwo new releases from ZamZam Sounds are coming. Waiting for them we’re getting back to this one from the end of 2015. Original Dubkasm’s “My Music” with great vocal and lyrics by Solo Banton was really well acclaimed. But this tune came out without a dub version.  ZamZam crew were in touch with Dubkasm for some time and this was really nice occasion to bring some vibes together. This 7” contains not only the dub version of “My Music”, but also another one for “Never Let I Down” (also from “My Music” EP). Musically Dubkasm gives us absolutely sophisticated, hi-fi sounds with crystal clear, deep reverbs and echoes mixed with flying vocal snippets; all based on raw drum&bass foundation. Excellent art of dub for contemplative listening.

Alter Echo & E3 feat. Rider Shafique – “Heights”/”The Sound Tonight” (ZamZam Sounds)

Alter Echo & E3 feat. Rider Shafique – “Heights”/”The Sound Tonight” (ZamZam Sounds)

zamzamWelcome to the world of psychedelic dub! This 7” from ZamZam Sounds comes with Alter Echo & E3 moody and heavy, deep steppers riddim, full of dark, mysterious pads,  echoes, resonating bass and ricocheting snares. But this dense atmosphere is multiplied thanks to excellent vocals of Rider Shafique of Bristol’s esoteric Young Echo crew. His hypnotic, declamation-style flow takes us to some higher regions of consciousness, where the words are beaten into your mind with bass and kicks.

ZamZam Sounds presents two 7” with deep dub

ZamZam Sounds presents two 7” with deep dub

zam26_1200pixw ZamZam Sounds presents two new 7” with deep dub music. The first one comes from Rob Smith aka RSD, who puts his own style of warm bass, syncopated drums and a lot of ornaments and effects into two tracks – “World Hungry” and “Dub Pride”. Both of them cannot be easily qualified, which is their power – you hear so many different flavours here, all connected by hypnotising beat.

The second one contains “Crucify Me” (with a dub version) by Heights & Worship (Ras Heights of Ital Sound System, and Rob Paine of Worship Recordings and Solomonic Sound). This one drop riddim is fat, a little bit psychedelic, with dense atmosphere and a great vocal part by Carlton Livingston.

ZamZam Sounds’ new 7” with Daba Makourejah

ZamZam Sounds’ new 7” with Daba Makourejah

zam25_1200pixwA brand new 7” from ZamZam Sounds is out now! Croatian producer Egoless has rebuilt Sly&Robbie’s classic riddim “Revolution”, mostly known from a vocal version with Dennis Brown. In his version we have beautiful, soulful voice of Senegalese roots reggae singer Daba Makourejah, who is singing an inspired lyric in Wolof on the importance of education in the upliftment of a country’s youth. Egoless’ riddim is an excellent work with rich effects, sound and masterful dub mixing.

Deep and dense dub by Hieronymus / ZamZam Sounds (7”)

Deep and dense dub by Hieronymus / ZamZam Sounds (7”)

zam24ZamZam’s last 7” of this year consists of 2 tracks from Danish artist Hieronymus. Deep resonance and dense atmosphere, saturated with dub effects and processed sounds creates an intriguing mood, especially in “Silk Road”, which has a bit of dub techno stylistic – we slowly go into hypnotic tangle of hum and bass. “Pound of Pepper” is more rhythmical and closer to the roots dub stylistic, yet still is dense and mysterious.

The powerful return of Alpha&Omega to ZamZam Sounds (7”)

The powerful return of Alpha&Omega to ZamZam Sounds (7”)

zamzam23_A&O_jacket_label copyAnother tune from Alpha&Omega for ZamZam Sounds is a powerful, massive, earthshaking riddim vocally supported by don Dillinger’s DJing and Don Goliath’s warm voice in refrains. This is the essence of Alpha&Omega’s roller-style, with magic melodica and organ melodies, high speed hi-hats, spatial synths and bass&drums line crushing your bones.

This blazing tune will be available in late October.

Los Gaiteros de San Jacinto – “Dub De Gaita” with Adrian Sherwood

Los Gaiteros de San Jacinto – “Dub De Gaita” with Adrian Sherwood

KHALI_LOSGAITEROS_jacket_label_smKhaliphonic label is a new child of ZamZam Sounds, dedicated to 10”&12” releases. ZamZam has accustomed us to extraordinary music and this will be kept with this new project – as shown by the announcement of the first release.

“Dub De Gaita” is a meeting of dub and Colombian tradition – Los Gaiteros de San Jacinto are cumbia roots icons, legendary in their homeland as guardians of ancient regional music and cultural traditions. On this release they are joined by another legend – On-U Sound founder, dub master Adrian Sherwood.

First track “Maria Sola” in Vocal Mix version is a vibrant song carried by sounds of drums and a flute. In Dub Mix main emphasis is put on the riddim, in some places crossed by vocal phrases or horns parts. All of this, processed by delays and reverbs, sounds very hypnotic. Second track – “El Fin De Mundo” is a 7 minutes long wild element, where reggae skank is mixed with a lot of instruments, all in a finest style of dubbing by Adrian Sherwood.

ZamZam once again proves, that dub has no borders.
