Another release by Unit 137 – “Play With Fire”

Another release by Unit 137 – “Play With Fire”

102632

London based group Unit 137 will release their next release with a track by onlyjoe band in October. “Play With Fire” is a nice, slow tune with a rich wind section, a soft guitar line and a characteristic vocals. Just like in previous releases this time we also get interesting remixes. Dubkasm improved it with heavy cosmic-dub effects without changing the tempo. The next version has been made by DJ Madd – a bit dubstep flavoured remix with a faster, more flowing bass and heavier rhythm. Sleepy Time Ghost and Hylu are responsible for the last remix – it is kept in a dark style with a lot of space and effects.

The release will be available on 12″ vinyl and in a digital format from 14th of October.

mraoui are telling us about the First World War in the context of experience of the soldiers – their death, suffering, but also friendship and yearning for home.

The first part of the album – called “The Album” – is mixed by Brain Damage, and the second one – “The Dubplates” – by Vibronics. The album will be available in the October (CD/LP). It’s good that there will also be released 3 10″ records with mixes made typically for soundsystems! And it’s even better that a live promoting tour has been announced to start this year!

To sum up – it looks like it will be one of most interesting dub releases this year (and not only). We definitely recommend it!

Dubkasm meets Aba Shanti I – “Jah Bible” (10”)

Dubkasm meets Aba Shanti I – “Jah Bible” (10”)

DUBK-22_v6_FINAL PROOF1Dubkasm deigns us with a new 10″ album with a tune that (as a dubplate) has been intensively played by Aba Shanti during the late 90s. “Jah Bible” is a tremendous roots tune with Ras Addis’ vocals and a mighty bass – right in Dubkasm’s style. Mix has been done by Aba Shanti – so besides the “traditional” dub version we also get 2 additional cuts – including one in a typical soundsystem style, with an emphasized bass line, raw arrangement and a lot of echo and spatial vocal fragments. It’s good that tunes like that, unavailable to buy for a long time, get to the shops with time!

Indidginus – Burning Spear “Slavery Days” Remix

Indidginus – Burning Spear “Slavery Days” Remix

indidginus_lion_and_logo_web

Indidginus from Capetown (who has been already presented by us) has just shared an energetic remix Burning Spear’s “Slavery Days”. All fans of dance dub-breakbeat digital sounds like Dreadzone or releases from Functional Records shall be pleased, it also contains a tough bassline. Following the creative aproach to the term of a “remix” the artist draws an inspiration from the original track, but serves it in his own new, brave version.

Weeding Dub – “City Walker” (12”)

CTR011_sideA_promoThe French are preparing a new longplay forecasted by a 12″ with 2 tracks and 2 dub versions. The first tune is “City Walker” – energetic powerful steppers with a mighty bass and the second one is “Chido La Banda” composed in Mexico in Bungalo Studio. I look forward to hearing their new album, this year is full of great releases and i feel that Weeding Dub will enter that trend.

Trigram – J-Path

Trigram – J-Path

Trigram01[Label-A]

The fact that Alpha Steppa draws inspiration from distant Japan or Korea probably is known by every aware listener; but not everybody knows that he promotes artist from that region for some time. Thanks to it we get to know J-Path, who is present on the music scene for about 20 years. He has been moving in different genres – hip-hop, drum’n’bass and at the present he is exploring the dubstep. Usually he works in Seoul, improving his music which tells us that creativity isn’t limited to one category and can always take us in a completely new jurney if we only want.

Alpha Steppa – Tricast01

Alpha Steppa – Tricast01

Tricast01-B

Alpha Steppa, besides releasing other artists, isn’t idle and he gives us a mix of tracks that weren’t published before and ones that will be released on miscellaneous mediums soon. That mix contains some tough dubstep tunes served in a way that you listen to it with a flush, waiting for every next track. The first release is J-Path, and the album will be reviewed on our page (project Trigram is coming…) Are compilations like this one are a new way to present tracks that are going to be released in the future? If so, I am happy about that and I’m wating for more alike stuff.

By the way, we have to brag that Alpha Steppa published his recent tune, which is on the mix, as a video clip and the dubmassive.org and dub senses birthday party that took place in Cracow is a background to it! (material has been recorded by Meet Steem).
